How to Use Secret Notes
- Set your passphrase immediately after your first login, before you start typing your first note. If you write notes before setting your passphrase, your notes will not be saved or encrypted properly.
- Set a strong passphrase after logging in. This passphrase encrypts all your notes and is never sent to the server. If you forget it, your notes cannot be recovered!
- Add, edit, and organize multiple notes. Each note has a title and a body. If you leave the title empty, it will be generated automatically from the note's content.
- Sidebar: Use the sidebar to browse, search, and select your notes. On mobile, tap the ☰ button to open the sidebar.
- Search: The search box in the sidebar lets you find notes by title or content instantly.
- Autosave: Notes are saved automatically as you type. All data is encrypted before leaving your device.
- Security: Your notes are stored encrypted on the server. Only you, with your passphrase, can decrypt and read them.
- First time? Set your passphrase before writing anything. If you change your passphrase, you will lose access to your existing notes.
Tip: For best security, use a unique passphrase you don't use elsewhere.
Warning: There is no way to recover your notes if you forget your passphrase.
